Offensive Material Ahead

Well, she has gone and done it again. Kathie Lee Gifford has flaunted her stupidity, yet again, and this time insulted the Pagan community.

In administering a quiz about wedding traditions at a reception as part of the Today Show's wedding series, Ms. Gifford asked a question regarding the wearing of the wedding band on the left hand.

"Why do you wear your wedding band on your left hand ring finger?

A. More people use their right hand to write.

B. Egyptians believed that finger follows the vein of love

C. Pagans believed it was bad luck to carry metal on your right side"

Innocent enough question, right? Oh no... our lovely Kathie Lee had to add her own little bit of wisdom and, instead of reading directly from her card, said: "Pagans, the nasty, bad pagans...." Do you think for a moment that she would have embellished the word "Jewish" or "Christian" as such?

I would love to know what exactly Ms. Gifford believes a pagan to be. It is precisely this sort of ignorance that makes it so difficult for those in the "broom closet" to practice their religion openly.
